Where environmental justice meets social media dating (kinda).

Kindling is an app concept that takes the idea and functionality of the dating app Tinder, and combines it with political and climate change causes. The concept came from looking at what concerns young, potential voters and how they are active on social media. Climate change is a cause that many of the youngest generation feel is an issue that needs to be addressed now.

Understanding this, Kindling is designed for users to assess their political values, then match them with current or campaigning lawmakers (nationally and locally) who are providing solutions for climate change while also matching the user’s ideals. Other functionalities would allow the users to stay updated on current events from reliable sources, learn more about climate topics, and connect with local organizations to participate in efforts to make their community better. Overall, the objective of this app is to create a better informed and more engaged generation of upcoming voters.

As part of my project, I created a display to walk users through the process and help to educate them on these issues. I created an AR interactive wall for them to scan on Snapchat to see the answers to some of commonly asked questions on these topics.
